The Boston Cyclists Union First Annual Meeting (PARTY)

Thursday, August 25 —— 7pm-9pm 26 West St, Boston 02111

Members-only PARTY: board, staff and volunteers will clink glasses with you, crack jokes, and maybe even bust a move. Delicious fingerfoods: pizza, Thai, chips, dips, PASTRIES. Pretty Things & Sam Adams beers, Katalyst KOMBUCHA, more. RAFFLE: farm share, bike stuff, massage, CHOCOLATE, more. DJ Jesse Kaminsky of the WMBR radio show “The Intercontinental” will spin music from around the world. The Boston Cyclists Union will present the work members have made possible so far and the goals we share for the future of our city. (Now is the time to join up, folks! Be a part of making history. )

OR at the door for the limited-time discounted rate of $25 (or at a discounted rate if you area a student, senior or have a low-income) OR you can barter five hours of your volunteer time for a membership sometime in the next 30 days. Members in good standing only. This is a party more than a business meeting, but we’ll also take a few minutes to elect a slate of enthusiastic board candidates recommended by the Union’s board search committee after sifting through 50 amazing applicants.

This event is the perfect time to encourage your friends and family to join the ranks; approach those who share your vision for a bicycle friendly Boston, and ask them to be a part of the movement that will make it a reality.

Tour De France Party Nights

Jeanie Johnston Pub (144 South Street, Jamaica Plain) is Tour de France 2011 headquarters! Every night through July 24 you can watch the Tour there, from 8-11pm.

In addition, Ferris Wheels hosts two special party nights at Jeanie Johnston to watch grueling high mountain stages of the 21-day race on Friday, July 15 and Friday, July 22, 8-11 pm. On July 22nd riders ascend L’Alpe d’Huez! Party nights feature:

+ Trivia contests for seasoned Tour fans
+ “Tour de France 101” – how to watch the Tour, the teams, the strategy
+ Raffles, Jeanie Johnston Pub food & beverage, and FUN!

In honor of Bike Month, the Ibex Outdoor Clothing flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston will host a cycling trunk show with the handcrafted leather bicycle accessories brand Brooks England on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm at 303 Newbury Street.

Bostonians with an appreciation for merino wool and fine leather bike accessories won’t want to miss this special shopping event.

During the trunk show, Ibex Boston will offer 20-percent off of its technical merino wool cycling apparel and accessories in its RIDE collection. Brooks will provide a special promotional tote bag with the purchase of any of its beautiful leather cycle bags, saddles and accessories. Ibex and Brooks will also raffle off products from their cycling collections throughout the evening. Harpoon beer and light bites will be served.
