Google Adds New Bike Features To Google Maps
Written by Boston Biker on Aug 29John sent in this fun news:
Google has just added an option that will show cycletracks or offset bike paths in the bicycling layer in Google Maps. When
you turn the biking layer on, roads that have cycletracks on them (such as Vasser Street in Cambridge) will turn to the dark green Google trails designation. It will transition to the light green with the outline of the road bike lane designation when the cycletrack transitions back to a bike lane.
I will be adding and updating cycletrack information in the area as part of my responsibilities as a Regional Moderator for Google. This is very exciting as moderators from across the US and Canada have been asking for this option since last fall!!
Here is a link to the Vasser St section so you can see what I mean.

New Bike Map
Written by Boston Biker on Feb 04So I didn’t really fall in love with the old map, so I have created a new one, give it a try and let me know what you think. You can add any location you want to the map. Know of a good spot to ride? Sweet bike shop? Place to hang with other riders after the ride? Add them all to the map and share your knowledge with others!
