Hi Dot Bikers,

We are very pleased to have State Representative Russell Holmes, who represents parts of Dorchester and Mattapan, join the Dorchester convoy for Bike Friday tomorrow morning.  Enjoy a chance to ride with the Representative and chat with him about issues and encourage him to keep supporting efforts to make Massachusetts and Boston even more bike friendly.
And a big thanks to Jack and Ashmont Cycles for providing the Representative with equipment for the event.
See you there!

Movie Night at the Dot 2 Dot Cafe/Cool Bike Infrastructure Brainstorm

Written by Boston Biker on Nov 28

From DotBike:

————————-

Come to the Dot2Dot cafe 1739 Dorchester Ave. on Friday night December 9th for a great dinner and a fun bike movie – ‘The Triplets of Belleview’ a 2003 classic animated feature film.

At 6:30 p.m. just prior to the screening we’ll very briefly tell you about an exciting new idea being worked on by a coalition of organizations to ‘Circle the City’ with a car free route for riders, rollers and walkers by closing roads or lanes to traffic to allow car free connections between the paths of the Emerald Necklace parks and the Neponset Greenway and Harbor Walk on select Sundays during the summer. Your input is requested for possible routes to connect Franklin Park to the Neponset Greenway and key Dorchester hubs. Also we’d love feedback on the Boston Bike Network plan presented on a rainy night 2 weeks ago and we’ll have some info in case you couldn’t attend. So even if you can’t stay for the movie come on by and share some ideas.

We hope you stay and watch this fun movie and enjoy a great meal and help support a local business. Restaurant opens at 6. BYOB.

And here is a brief movie synopsis in case you’re not familiar with the Triplets.

The movie tells the story of Madame Souza, an elderly woman who goes on a quest to rescue her grandson Champion, a Tour de France cyclist, who has been kidnapped by the French mafia for gambling purposes and taken to the city of Belleville. She is joined by the Triplets of Belleville, music hall singers from the 1930s, whom she meets in the city, and her obese hound, Bruno.

The film was highly praised by audiences and critics for its unique (and somewhat retro) style of animation. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards — Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Belleville Rendez-vous”. It was also screened out of competition (hors concours) at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival.[3]
