Lets Be Like New York
Written by Boston Biker on Oct 19I would love love love to see something like this from the city, it would be great.
Also did you notice, they talk about door zones in bike lanes? A little education goes a long way toward safety.
Also how not to cross the street (this video is completely unrelated to the above, but o..m..g..)

Um, hello Bike Czar?? Don’t we have a person who should be advocating for these sorts of things? It’s true there are tons of narrow streets in Boston, but there are plenty of very wide streets that become free-for-alls.

SJ, Nicole always talks about how she wants to do easy bike lanes (like columbus st) and not harder ones like the ones in the video. Every time someone brings up a protected bike lane she says “impossible, streets here are too narrow” even though Narrow streets in NYC get them too. Dont even mention counter-flow lanes around her.

I think we need a new mayor, and a new bike czar.

Unfortunately, I doubt Flaherty would be much better. Menino at least HAS a bike czar, I havent heard anything from Flaherty indicating he’d do more or even continue the current level of bike work.
