   Yeah, if only Boston could feel more like a truck stop along a highway. Finally, our city will be so much more respected.

   Is there a way to stop this?

   Cyclostat: Unfortunately public comment is now closed, the law suit that was filed against this has been dismissed, and the project looks like it is going to go forward on MassAve with the shitty design…your only recourse at this point is to continue to complain to the mayors office. Perhaps if enough people got an organized campaign together it might work…it is an election year after all.

   I was very disturbed to hear that the Mass Ave reconstruction project
   (described here:

   with a great student documentary here: )
   is going through without a redesign to make the street safer for
   pedestrians and bicyclists. I can appreciate the concerns that the
   city has for attempting to ease traffic congestion, but allowing cars
   to speed through there with a smaller sidewalk, on-street parking, and
   tiny bike lanes will be dangerous. My fear is that due to the lack of
   project revision, people will be unnecessary put at risk (pedestrians
   and cyclists alike). As someone who cycles throughout the city and
   occasionally drives out to the suburbs, I worry that the emphasis on car
   accommodation in the core of the city (a place with an extremely high
   concentration of people) will only encourage even *more* traffic, auto
   accidents, and fatalities involving pedestrians/cyclists and cars.

   Please consider postponing the project to come up with a design that
   instead widens the sidewalks and allows cyclists more safety. Thank
   you.
