Design A T-Shirt For The MassCommuter Challenge
Written by Boston Biker on Feb 09got the following in the ole email, looks like a fun contest.
——————-
Hey bicyclists! Get ready for a brand new Bay State Bike Week and MassCommuter Challenge in 2010! This year the Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) of MassCommute are pedaling to a whole new level with our first annual T-Shirt Design Competition!
The MassCommuter Challenge is a friendly competition taking place during Bay State Bike Week (May 17th – 21st), encouraging Bay State residents to incorporate bicycling into trips to work, conducting errands or for social activities. We are excited to announce that we have extended this year’s Challenge beyond businesses and institutions to NOW include municipalities and grade schools! Translation: ALL bicycling counts and we hope you will participate!
Who doesn’t love a T-shirt design competition?
Do you love your bike and posses at least one creative muscle in your body? If so, “EXERCISE IT!” by submitting an original T-shirt design to the competition. All you need is a design that reflects the idea of why biking is a smart way to travel from point A to point B. Think: bikes, smart transportation, a fun way to get around, environmentally friendly, good for your waist line and benefits your community. The sky is the limit, and we look forward to seeing the designs that you Bay Staters have in store for us!
The important details…..
The T-shirt design competition runs through 5pm on Friday March 12, 2010. The creator of the T-shirt design we choose as the winner will receive a $100.00 REI gift card. Your original design must be submitted electronically as a Vector Art file to [email protected]. Be sure to include a phone number and/or email address where you can be reached. All submitted designs will become sole property of MassCommute, which will have sole authority to select the winning design and retain sole rights to use the design as MassCommute sees fit. For additional questions please contact Dorothy Fennell by email ([email protected]) or phone (617-502-6251).
Good luck!

Core77 One Hour Design Contest: Theft Proof Bike
Written by Boston Biker on Mar 17Core77 a design website and Harris Cyclery (home to the late Sheldon Brown) have teamed up to offer a $200 reward if you can design a theft proof cycle. This is an interesting contest and I will be eager to see what people come up with.
Don’t miss out! Win a $200 gift certificate at Harris Cyclery.
We all remember when our first Huffy was stolen. The realization that some lazy-eyed cretin had stripped away our freedom all for the purpose of a 15 minutes joy ride hit us like a ton of bricks. Maybe that was just me, but no one can argue that bike theft is rampant. A recent discussion on the Core77 Blog about a Biomega bike that attempts to turn the whole bike into the bike lock is the inspiration for our latest 1HDC incarnation. Can you design a better bike lock in one hour or less? Push aside that looming deadline and pick up your Sharpies…it’s 1HDC time again! What can you bring to the table to prevent more Huffy Heartache?
