DCR Recreational Advisory: Temporary Closure of the Paul Dudley White Bike Path in Boston
WHAT: Beginning on Monday, December 21, 2015 and continuing to Friday, January 22, 2016, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will be implementing a temporary closure of Paul Dudley White Bike Path along the Boston side of the Charles River between the Boston University Bridge and the River Street Bridge, to accommodate repairs to the pedestrian bridge.
WHERE: Paul Dudley White Bike Path, Boston, between the Boston University Bridge and the River Street Bridge
WHEN: Monday, December 21, 2015 and continuing to Friday, January 22, 2016

If this was a closure of a city street, there would be directions on detours….. here they just leave you hanging. Zero consideration of what cyclists are supposed to do in the meantime.
So much for Marty Walsh’s biking initiatives.

There’s a sign up that flashes “Bike Path Closed Jan-Mid March,” there’s a new press release stating that the work will be from Jan. 20-Feb. 20 and there is the press release here. This section of the bike path is a lynchpin for commuters. I agree the bridge needs repairs but 1 month is excessive. Hopefully, they are just padding the estimate. The Cambridge side of the bike path is awful.

Got caught by this today – still closed. The Cambridge side is indeed awful especially between the BU and Mass Ave bridges
