Chain Reaction Launches Mobile Teen Bike Shop

Written by Boston Biker on Mar 12

BNB teens running a Bike To School Day event in the Fall, which served as a test run for their mobile bike repair setup.

On March 14th at 3PM, Bikes Not Bombs’ team of youth community organizers will officially launch Chain Reaction. After months of project development, fundraising, flyering and bike repairing, Boston’s first youth-run, mobile, after-school bike shop is ready to go! Until the end of June, Chain Reaction will operate out of Boys and Girls Clubs in Boston neighborhoods that don’t have permanent shops. Our first stop will be the Yawkey Club of Roxbury, located at 115 Warren Street in Roxbury.

BNB will be at the Club on the following dates from 3 – 6:30PM: March 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 and April 2, 4

Chain Reaction will offer low cost repairs, free repairs to those who want to learn and do the work, and will be selling road-ready refurbished bikes. BNB Youth will also be on hand to mentor Boys and Girls Club Youth and teach them mechanics skills and bike safety. Check out the full details online.
