Brave The Cold For A Good Cause

Written by Boston Biker on Feb 22

For those of you still commuting (huzzah!) you know that braving the cold for an hour isn’t that bad, well now you can do it for a good cause! Got this in the email this morning, looks like fun.

———————————

HomeStart, Inc. and Boston Sports Clubs Dare Bostonians to Brave the
Elements and Raise Funds at Outdoor Spin-A-Thon

WHAT: Although it doesn’t compare to the hours that homeless individuals
spend in the cold, ICycle participants will spin for an hour in the
February weather to raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against
homelessness. Participants are asked to raise at least $250 to ride for one
hour on stationary bikes, provided by Boston Sports Clubs.

Created by HomeStart, a non-profit organization whose mission is to end
homelessness in Greater Boston, ICycle has raised $150,000 within the past
three years with more than 100 riders participating each year.

Boston Sports Club trainers will conduct several spin classes throughout
the day, including during the kickoff, finale and lunch hours. Celebrity
guest appearances are also planned.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 23 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Dewey Square (outside – near South Station) – Boston

CONTACT: Lauren Berger at [email protected] or at
212-812-5665

MORE: Our lead sponsors will provide riders with t-shirts and other
promotional items. Warm drinks and water will be served. Participants with
valid identification may use shower and changing facilities at Boston
Sports Clubs, located at 695 Atlantic Avenue. For more information and to
register, please visit www.regonline.com/icycle_iv_2010 or visit

Pastry Race Results

Written by Boston Biker on Nov 23

Ohh my goodness. This was a blast. My poor stomach is still recovering from the amount of pure sugary crap I stuffed into it. Fun check points, powdered sugar, smacking Twinkies into the Charles…epic fun. Goodness it was cold, and going back down drydock was like climbing up hill that damn wind was BRUTAL. We all ended snotty and red faced, but it was so worth it.
