Hey Look They Caught That Asshole Stealing Bikes In Davis
Written by Boston Biker on Oct 07They caught that asshole. Don’t steal bike bro…seriously. Good to see the increased security is working.
————
Police arrested a Cambridge man Friday on two counts of larceny for allegedly stealing two bicycles from the Davis Square MBTA stop in Somerville in August.
Jonathan Banker, 27, of Cambridge, is expected to be arraigned in Somerville District Court sometime Monday, according to MBTA Transit Police.
Police believe Banker stole a Jamis Ventura bicycle from the bike racks next to the Holland Street entrance at the Davis Square T stop on Sunday Aug. 18. Police also think he was behind another bicycle theft at the same T stop on Aug. 30.
Transit Police posted photographs of their suspect in the larcenies on Sept. 4 before the investigation into the crimes led them to Banker. (via)

On Monday, May 20, 2013, at approximately 9:45 AM, the male subject depicted below arrived at the Holland Street side of Davis MBTA Station on a bicycle. He was observed loitering near the bicycle racks for approximately 30 minutes, before placing his bicycle next to another bicycle, which he subsequently stole, leaving the original bicycle behind.
Always great to see surveillance video and social media being put to good use. It’s difficult to tell what kind of bicycle was stolen from the photos, but these photos may come in handy for anyone with vigilant Craigslist eyes.

Written by Boston Biker on Jul 27Eric sent me a link to this very interesting pdf
While overall crime is at a 40 year low, bike theft is on the rise in Cambridge, read the full document for more details.
I am going to take this as a sign that bike riding is getting really popular in Cambridge, and also that you need to watch your bike like a hawk when you are in Central Sq.
