North Shore To Boston: Impossible Journey

The Impossible Journey from John Bonner on Vimeo.
This amazing journey was completed by one brave soul John Bonner, with tongue firmly in cheek he takes us on this epic quest to bicycle into Boston from the north. I have often been amazed at how fun some of the places north and east of Boston can be to ride around in, and horrified at how hard it is to get there by bike. Lets hope that the new bike friendly city includes ways to get into and out of it. You can find a lot more info about this fantastic voyage here.

Good video. Theres a reason most people dont realize east boston is actually part of the city of Boston. Its so hard to get to. Big highways, and the blue line….but after 12:30am if you dont have a car, theres no way to walk or bike. You need a cab….and the $4 toll.

That was hilarious! I want to be a strange, British man when I grow up.

man, he should have taken beacham st and the meridian st bridge into east boston… the trip from somerville to maverick square sure isn’t for the faint of heart either

I can see the sequel now. Since immediately after crossing over that bridge on route 99, he will be dumped into the traffic circle at Sullivan Square, an intersection so inhospitable that the old Schrafts building on one side of it has a shuttle bus that takes office workers to subway stop on the other side of it. A shuttle bus to cross an intersection! Then there’s the Rutherford Avenue mess, and the Rose Kennedy park (bicycles prohibited), etc.

great video! i agree with roy, continuing down 99 is just as bad and the second metal bridge without a bike lane is just as dangerous, if not moreso than the first. keep the videos coming!

It was a great video. But all these complaints about 99, Sullivan Sq.? How about Beacham St.? Is it just me, or is this a NASA training ground before the first moon based bike ride?
