(Get your bike off the street, or it could end up like this poor soul)

Who rode into work today? Who is planning on doing a little snow biking? Any adventure, plans, parties? Want to talk about anything else? Blizzard day snowy open thread below, leave your thoughts in the comments.

I rode in today, and hope to escape before the real bad stuff starts. In case anyone is wondering the secret to riding in a blizzard, its to wait till a truck rolls down the street then ride in the tire track. Go slow, in a straight line, take the lane, and don’t lean into the turns.

Rode in. Quiet and empty streets. Should be fine getting home as long as I can leave before 3.

Superb/Cambridge bicycle are putting on a race tonight at 8 at the Hatch Shell.

I, for one, am looking forward to Boston bike lanes disappearing for the next 2-3 weeks, which is how long it’ll take for all the snow [the city didn't plow to the curb] to melt. Or for Menino to get embarrassed and have crews remove it.

I rode in this morning from Belmont through harvard Square and along the river to Cambridge st, few riders, some runners, and windy as hell out there! Someone has done a great job clearing the charles river path lately, but we’ll see what happens after this one. Be leaving State st downtown at 2, heading along the path through Cambridge, unless it is real real bad. Brought my booties and snow pants just in case. If you’re heading that way and don’t want to ride alone, I’ve got fenders :)

Deval has banned all traffic after 4pm. Sounds like the perfect time to ride. The streets were already empty this morning on my commute from JP to the North End. Studded tires and hydraulic discs FTW.

Note that Deval’s ban on traffic is for motor vehicle traffic only (see http://www.mass.gov/alert/alertlanding.html). Bicycles are still allowed.
