Craigie Bridge Update

Written by Boston Biker on Nov 16

Charlie sent me this fine Craigie Bridge update. Thanks for the update Charlie, I am sure this will be helpful info for many commuters.

Just a quick Craigie Bridge update for you. The temporary span on the outbound side is complete and open and work is now taking place on the inbound side. Bicyclists heading into Boston should ride on the inbound roadway or sidewalk and then use a temporary manned mid-block crosswalk directly in front of the museum to get to the outbound sidewalk. Then, bicyclists should walk their bikes to Leverett Circle and use the crosswalk at Leverett Circle to get back to the inbound lanes. (The sidewalk on the temporary outbound bridge span is quite narrow, so I wouldn’t recommend riding on it unless there are very few pedestrians. Plus there is signage to walk bikes as well.)

Yeah, there is hardly enough room for two people to walk past each other, much less a bike to ride on that walkway, and the boards are slippery and shifty. Walk the bike, keep it close to you, and try not to whack pedestrians as you go :)
