Event Title: Bike Parade against Street Harassment
Main Contact: Anti-harassment Bike Club ([email protected])
Date: Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
Time: 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Location: Starting and ending outside of the Stony Brook T stop in Jamaica Plain (riding through Jamaica Plain, Allston, Cambridge, South End, and Roxbury)
Description: Bike ride to raise awareness, build community, and challenge harassment of cyclists, particularly those perceived as female or feminine. Wear your favorite parade outfit, your most beautiful costume, or cover yourself with banners and signs. Bring snacks and beverages, if you want. Be prepared to dance. We’ll have a sound system. The ride will be easy and slow-paced, so beginning bikers are welcome. We will be stopping at points along the way so that people can share their stories of street harassment. Come one, come all — those who experience harassment as well as allies!
