Party To Celebrate Casey Overpass Victory Tonight
Written by Boston Biker on Mar 16got this in the email, looks like a blast. (also free food!)
—————
6:00pm until 9:00pm
JJ Foley’s Fireside Tavern, 30 Hyde Park Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
Invite your friends in the neighborhood–
Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey has announced the state’s decision to take down the Casey Overpass, and replace it with a 6-lane arterial roadway with traffic flow similar to Melnea Cass Boulevard, and a park the size of Copley Square Plaza.
We invite you to turn the page with us toward a new future for Forest Hills that will help small businesses, make a more inviting area for walkers and bicyclists, and reconnect this gap in the Emerald Necklace. This is a great opportunity also for people on both sides of the debate we all just came through to shake hands and strategize about how we can make this a project all of us will be proud of for the decades to come.
Free appetizers will be available, and drinks are pretty darn affordable at the Fireside. Please join us and support this Forest Hills business.

Bike Friday Part 2
Written by Boston Biker on Aug 20The first bike Friday was so much fun (and such a success) that they are doing it again! Get yo ass on one of these sweet convoys, and get down town. You will be greeted by a whole host of smiling faces, free coffee, free breakfast (pastries bagels, and other ultra-carbs).
BOSTON BIKE FRIDAY – This Friday August 22nd is the second Boston Bike Friday of the Summer. In a build up to the Hub On Wheels Ride scheduled for September 21st the city is sponsoring a ride into City Hall Plaza and a free breakfast and expo.
WHAT: SAFE, GUIDED CONVOYS WITH POLICE ESCORT Lead by experienced cyclists and escorted by Boston Police. The police escort will regulate traffic at intersections so this will be a virtually non-stop ride at an easy 10 mph pace. If you aren’t used to riding on city streets this is a perfect opportunity to get more experience.
FREE BREAKFAST, BIKE EXPO AND MUSIC Whether you ride in with a convoy or ride alone, join us at Boston City Hall for free food and fun, courtesy of 100.7 WZLX, Mass Commute, MassBike, and all the sponsors.
For more information and to register see http://www.cityofboston.gov/bikes/bikefridays.asp
They are still looking for ride leaders (Dorchester and Allston Brighton). You will get a free t-shirt. If you are interested contact Daniel Hoagland at Daniel.Hoagland.bra
