Museum Road Sharrows
Written by Boston Biker on Nov 19Got a report today that Museum road got sharrows, anyone got pics? Can anyone confirm about Ruggles? Thanks again Fenway for another great tip.
Museum Road finally got its sharrows painted today.
I assume Ruggles Street must have have gotten its markings today as well, given the proximity of the project, but haven’t confirmed that yet.

Don’t assume anything logical about bike lane and sharrow painting practices… They make no sense, are often slap dash and incomplete, and even after being shown what’s wrong are slow to correct errors if they go back AT ALL… Makes me want to buy a line painter and a stencil and go after the contracts myself… That said, there’s a lot more on the ground now then there was in the spring!

Museum Road has sharrows spaced very widely and “Share the Road” signs at the intersections with Huntington and The Fenway. Unfortunately one of the “Share the Road” road signs is already missing (closest to Huntington Ave) and the sharrows are into the door zone. The two way redesign also eliminated the curb extensions at both intersections, so be wary of fast turning traffic.

Ruggles Street still doesn’t have sharrows and lane markers painted yet. This is frustrating given that this project has been “completed” for weeks compared to Museum Road.
