Help Somerville Bike Kitchen Extend It’s Hours

Written by Boston Biker on Nov 16

———-

Somerville Bike Kitchen is looking for additional staff members to help run the coop so that we can expand our open-shop hours. In exchange for agreeing to host open-shop hours once a month and a fee of $18 per month, SBK staff get key access to the SBK bike repair space. You also get to help us shape the future of the bike kitchen. Each SBK staff agrees to serve for a minimum term of three months. No experience necessary.

SBK is a cooperative bicycle repair space located near Davis Sq. We currently hold open shop hours once a week on Tuesdays from 6-9pm at 339R Summer street. If your bike is misbehaving, want to use our truing stand, or just want to hang out and talk shop, bike on over and say hi. All are welcome!

Please check our website for our next bike-in movie night and our first repair workshop!

Bike In Movie!

Written by Boston Biker on Aug 05

Got this event forwarded to me, looks like a great time!
————–
Summer is here, and the time is ripe for outdoor viewing of classic 70’s cycling movies!
Join us Saturday night, August 8, at the Somerville Bike Kitchen at 339R Summer St (sprout). We’re showing the epic movie, Breaking Away, starting at 8PM and food and drinks starting at 7PM. There is also a pre-ride hosted by Femmechanics, more info on their Facebook event page here!
Somerville Bike Kitchen is a bike repair co-op near Davis Square with all the tools, know-how, elbow grease, and grease grease that an amateur bike mechanic needs. You can currently join us Tuesday nights from 6-9PM for open shop. Come fix, build, or poke-at your bike and become a member!

Femmechanics is a group of FTW (femme/trans/women) cyclists in the Boston area. They organize open shop nights (Grrrease Time), rides, and events to promote an encouraging, supportive atmosphere for people to teach and learn from one another. They’re awesome!
