From the email:

Bikes Not Bombs (https://bikesnotbombs.org/) will host a free screening of “Power to the Pedals: Wenzday Jane and the Culture of Change”(http://powertothepedals.org/) at the Hub on Tuesday May 6th at 6pm (https://www.facebook.com/events/274292362749592/).

This 30-minute film features the story of Wenzday Jane, the founder of Metro Pedal Power. Wenzday grew up in a low-income household and was able to harness her mechanical skills to build a successful business — with priorities on social justice and community-building.  A post-screening discussion with Wenzday Jane, founder of Metro Pedal Power, and other entrepreneurs will focus on skills youth can develop to move onto jobs after high-school. We encourage young people, local businesses, and community members alike to attend!

The BNB Hub is located at 284 Amory St., Jamaica Plain, MA in the Brewery Complex, next to Ula Cafe. Film begins at 6pm sharp, Q&A at 6:30pm.

power to the pedalsPower to the Pedals: May 10, 2008

Power to the Pedals is the first charity ride to help find a cure for our feverish planet Earth! On May 10, 2008 at 10 a.m., rain or shine, Power to the Pedals starts in Arlington Heights and takes a lovely tour through Lexington, Concord and Carlisle. Lots of prizes, a planet-friendly vegetarian meal, and a wonderful day for the whole family. A few free loaner bikes are available – just let them know in advance. Only $10 to register, minimum pledge of $50 to make it accessible to lots of people – but larger donations are needed and most welcome! Donations are tax-deductible, and all proceeds benefit the Northeast Climate Confluence, a youth-organized summer conference educating on global warming, sustainability and political action. Get more information and sign up at http://www.constitution411.org/climate/pedals. This ride donates $1/rider to MassBike to support bicycling advocacy.
