Hiring Bicycle Mechanic at the Bike Shop
Bikes Not Bombs Retail Bike Shop is now accepting applications for full time skilled bicycle mechanics for the 2012 season.

Bikes Not Bombs is a non-profit located in Jamaica Plain Ma, which ships bicycles overseas, runs youth programs in Boston and recycles bicycles locally. The BNB Bike Shop sells refurbished and new bicycles as well as providing expert repairs.

Applicants should have experience working on bikes, a strong customer service orientation, and experience working in bike shops.

Bikes Not Bombs: Girls In Action

GIRLS IN ACTION! bike program
May 18th – June 22nd
Monday through Friday, 3:30 – 6:30pm each day

Girls ages 12-18 have the opportunity to engage in an interactive bicycle mechanics, bicycle riding safety, and gender equity social justice curriculum. This course is an excellent way for girls to gain skills and make friends in the rich community of female cyclists and mechanics at Bikes Not Bombs. Program graduates ride away on their very own refurbished bicycles! Just like Earn-A-Bike, graduates of this class may eventually qualify for a part-time teaching and leadership job in our youth programs. For girls only. Classes run Mon-Thurs, 3:30 – 6:30. Program cost is $25-$50 sliding scale for the whole session (scholarships available).

Bikes Not Bombs Adult Mechanics Course

ADULT MECHANICS COURSE
4/13/09 – 5/11/09
5 Mondays, 6-8pm

Learn to repair your own bike! This is a “basic” mechanics courses that gives you the skills to do a full tune-up, plus more advanced work overhauling rotational systems. Classes cover bike fit, flats, brakes, gears, and adjustments and overhauls of hubs. The final session will allow you to pick more topics to cover (wheel truing, etc) depending on the needs of your bike.
