From Dot Bike:

————-
Bikes are in bloom! With the celebration of Bay State Bike Week, Boston Bike to Work Festival and thereturn of the Hubway fleets May can feel like a burst of new energy for bicycling in Boston. Maybe you can convince a friend, relative or neighbor to attend one of the local events below where they too can get a taste for life on two wheels…
Here are 8 ways you can get involved in your bike community this month:
ADVOCACY NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES:

In April, DotBike members submitted two advocacy letters on behalf of the group, urging local policy makers to support measures to increase safety and quality of life for vulnerable road users:
1)We supported Councilor Frank Baker’s proposal to lower default speed limit to 20 mph in Boston. Council votes this week, then passes to Mayor, then onto State House.
2)We asked State Reps to support specific budget amendments crucial to bike safety. These bills are on track to go to a full vote in the full House and Senate.
Once these move forward we will enlist you to help by contacting your state legislators via email or phone and asking for their support. See a sample letter and read more on MassBike’s website here.
