From the always awesome Greg Hum

Tonight’s Boston Bike Party involves a short ride followed by Harpoon Beer donations and free pizza from All Star Pizza at Hub Bicycle for the after-party.
Y’all are welcome to show up to the after-party if you don’t think you’ll ride, but you’d better be rocking some sweet 80s attire.

Boston Bike Party! This Friday!

Written by Boston Biker on Aug 05

Our very own Greg Hum, besides making it into just about every local media outlet (serious way to go man!), has also been integral in organizing the Boston Bike Parties.  This Friday the theme is Boston T Party (get it, MBTA… Boston T Party…so good).

From Boston Magazine:

Community event organizer Greg Hum said throwing an MBTA-themed bike ride together for this Friday, the same month that the transit agency celebrates its 50th birthday, wasn’t intentional.

“It’s a coincidence. But it’s a perfect coincidence; while they are celebrating, we will be out celebrating too,” he said.

Hum helps bring together hundreds of cyclists every month as part of the ongoing “Boston Bike Party” series, which got its start in the city just over a year ago.

On August 8, Hum expects the usual crowd—and possibly more—to show up for a free tour of some of the group’s favorite T stations, dressed head-to-toe in transit-specific attire. “We are going to encourage people to come and dress appropriately as their favorite T line,” Hum said of the event, called “The Boston ‘T’ Party.”

Get your costumes ready and be sure to be at Copley sq. at 730 Friday Aug 8th!

Boston Bike Party!

Written by Boston Biker on Jun 27

Apparently they already have 100+ participants and the event listing has been up mere days. This looks like its going to be an amazing time.

Check it out here.

Tuesday, July 9, 2013
7:30pm until 10:30pm in EDT

Boston Bike Party is a social ride at casual pace. The idea is to spread the sense of community through biking! If we ride with some simple rules, we can stay safe and maintain a good relationship between cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians.
Come ride with us and celebrate biking in the city as we’ll go around JP!

Meet at 7.30pm in Dewey Square (in front of South Station) and roll at 8pm for a couple hours ride. Then come eat/drink with us at the after-party!

To do list:
-Bring bike lights and bells! Blinkies, glow sticks, and disco balls welcome. We want the party to be seen/heard.
Feeling inspired? Create something that makes light!
-Keep to the right lane and off of sidewalks
-Never ride against traffic
-Stop at red lights
-Ride straight and predictably
-Ride smart. Don’t ride inebriated or unsafely.
-Remind others to be safe. Help remind others who aren’t following the rules.
-Stick together! It isn’t a race to the end, it’s a social ride together. If the group is held back, wait. If you’re falling back (which is hard) catch up!
-You are each responsible for your behavior! All participants ride at their own risk.

— Detailled route and Spotify collaborative playlist to come soon
