Boston Bikes is a great place to work and we are hiring a year-round mechanic and youth cycling instructors. The mechanic will help to run our shop and programs, steadily repair donated bikes, and assist with other Boston Bikes initiatives. Bikes Not Bombs Vocational Education Course – Job Training In Mechanics

Want to be a bike mechanic? Our Vocational Education course offers professional mechanics training at our Hub in Jamaica Plain, MA, preparing trainees for jobs in bike shops. Students will get extensive hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of used bikes, and will learn to assemble new bikes. Students will become acquainted with the wide variety of bikes currently in use in today’s growing bicycle market. You will learn compatibility of components as well as key diagnostic and problem solving skills, essential to the evaluation and repair of used bikes.

The course runs in two parts:
* December 3 – December 18, 2010, meeting Fridays 4-7 pm and Saturdays 3-6 pm
* and January 11 – February 26, 2011, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-7 pm & Saturdays 3-6 pm
