Bicycle Film Fest 2010 (With Boston Area Handbuilt Bike Show!)

Written by Boston Biker on Sep 09

The Bicycle Film Fest is back, and is once again stopping off in Boston.

From here. <-- Click for more info.

23-25 September this year, folks.

Decent weather for the 10th anniversary is expected; get ready for some lovely fall riding to the screenings at the Brattle (2 nights this year), an awesome art show / first-ever Boston Area Handbuilt Bicycle Exhibition at the Fourth Wall Project, a couple of bike-peeps afterparties (Savant Project and somewhere TBA) and a surely awesome alleycat ala Croth.

The films this year are diverse, exciting, funny, tear-jerking, riot-inducing, controversial, and so much more. We caught most of them in NYC and Montreal- there’s plenty of racing, ‘cross, BMX, polo, FGFS, art, and unclassifiable flicks… I can’t wait to see them again. The new Lucas Brunelle / Benny Zenga joint, Line of Sight, is particularly action-packed and offers some deep insight into our very own homegrown alleycat auteur.

Also, we need volunteers. Email me: joshua AT openbicycle DOT com. Do it.

Questions on what’s happening? Stay tuned and/or mail me.

Bicycle Film Fest Wrapup: A Good Time Had By All

Written by Boston Biker on Aug 18

WOW! So this weekend was the bicycle film fest. In a word, AWESOME! Great time, great people, great movies. It was a fantastic time, and if you missed it, SHAME ON YOU.

The whole thing kicked off with a sweet party at Underground video/Revolution Cycles in JP. BoldSprints, over 200 PBR’s (mostly tall boys, all free) veggy dogs, food from veggie planet, and a whole lot of fun. Natasha took some great pictures of the event, here is a taste.

Here is some guy betting five bucks that I wont beat Phil (who is a really nice guy) at bold sprints…too bad for phil, and that guy, I ROCKED HIS ASS.

bold sprints

Faster Phil…faster.

The next Friday was the first round of movies at the Somerville theater, in Davis Square. It rained…a lot, but that didn’t stop a huge number of people from showing up to watch some awesome movies.

Saturday was a blast, much nicer, much sunnier, more awesome movies, there was tricks out front, valet bike parking from MassBike, and a whole host of great bike people around all day. I got to see Lucas Brunelle, got to be at the finish line as Peter Bradshaw WHOOPED everyone (he was in like a couple minutes faster than the person in second place) at the fastforward alley cat, and got to see a lot of nice bikes and meet a lot of nice people.

This was followed up by even more fun at Great Scott for the after party, and if that wasn’t enough a sweet brunch/ride on Sunday. Wow…

Like I said this was a really fun event, thanks to Seth, Dorothy, Brent and everyone else who made this a fantastic event. You guys ROCK. Also be sure to check out a lot more of Natasha’s sweet pictures here.

If you missed it this year be sure to check it out next year.

Written by Boston Biker on Aug 13

That’s right, if you come help out doing valet bike parking at the Bicycle Film Fest this Saturday you get a whole lot of free stuff. Got this email below.

Hello Everyone

We are in urgent need of people to help out Saturday for the valet bike parking for the bicycle film fest. Not only will you be given the chance to park some of the finest bikes (maybe), but you will be given a t-shirt (maybe more than one), free entrance to the movies (on the shift you are not working), free entrance to the after party, AND a free beer once you get there.

You know you want to help!

We are looking for people to take any one of the following shifts.

1-3pm
3-6pm
6-9pm
9-11pm

We need people for every one of these shifts. Be sure to include your name, phone number, and t-shirt size if you can help out.

Thanks a million!
