GIRLS IN ACTION – Spring session
May 2nd – June 27th
Fridays 4:00-6:30, with occasional Saturday events
In Girls In Action, girls ages 10-13 have the opportunity to engage in basic bicycle mechanics, bicycle outings, sleepovers, arts and crafts and discussions on girls’ issues. It’s a good time for any girl who likes bikes and wants some positive time with a cool group of girls! The group is also invited to all of the Saturday morning youth bike rides, and does some of its own girls-only Saturday outings.
Program cost is $15-$30 for the whole session (scholarships available).

PPS: I just came across this video again and remember how much fun it is to watch, it was done at our old space by the PBS television show Curious George, see here and click on Fixing Bikes to see some former Girls In Action and other youth participants!

Bikes Not Bombs – Earn A Bike All Girls Session
Written by Boston Biker on Mar 07| May 12, 2008 | to | June 13, 2008 |
ALL GIRLS EARN-A-BIKE
May 12 – June 13, 2008
(Girls only!)
This course meets each week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30-6 pm.
Earn yourself a bicycle (to keep) while learning how to fix it! We go for fun bike rides, learn a lot of bike mechanics and bike safety, and explore some environmental issues. You don’t need any experience with mechanics, and we’ve even had students who’ve never ridden a bike before. Our instructors will work with you every step of the way to make this fun and easy to learn. Our bike rides spend most of their time on bike paths in the parks near us, and once everyone has learned their skills we’ll deal with riding on the street.
You pick out a bike (choose from mountain, road, or BMX bikes), we teach you to rebuild it, and then you keep it! The class is for ages 12-18.
