Broadway Bike Lane Public Meeting Canceled

Written by Boston Biker on Sep 12

This is strange, seems the public meeting has been canceled.   Anyone know why they would do something like this?  Me thinks something must be up.

Notice from the city below:

West Broadway – Canceled
The public meeting about possible bike lanes on West Broadway has been canceled. Neighborhood groups, businesses and elected officials will continue to meet and discuss the possible expansion of bike lanes in South Boston. We thank everyone for their participation and input, and look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sounds like the project is being cancelled.

This is another near repeat of the sad Charlestown debacle.

The West Broadway Neighborhood Association supports the lanes as improving the neighborhood and providing better transportation access.

The South Boston Chamber of Commerce is against them on the basis of sacred double parking.

Several long term residents (the self ordained cranks) are making opposition to project a chance to display their bigotry against newer residents too.

The usual mix of younger locals and our city’s healthy cohort of bike advocates are of course fully supportive.

The usual crap why we can’t have nice things. “It’s always been shitty so let’s keep it shitty!” ,”You can’t stop us from breaking the law when we’ve been breaking the law since before you were here!”, “I JUST GOTTA PAHK MY CAH! ONE BLOCK IS JUST TO FAH TO WALK!”
