I was in A’dam for a week in Sept 08, and am going again in a few weeks. It’s amazing to see the sheer volume of bikes on the road. They outnumber cars, it seems. It’s also a little discombobulating to see them all after you’ve spent some time at a coffee house. The bike paths and sidewalks can look a little similar.

Conspicuously absent: helmets. I didn’t see a single one on a bicyclist. There were enough close calls in the clip that I’d want to wear one just to protect against collisons with other bicyclists. Otherwise this was a beautiful thing to see.
