All Done! New Features!
Written by Boston Biker on Aug 08So that was fun, I am still playing around with a lot of stuff, but it seems we are stable, and up and running.
To get a taste of all these new features sign up for your own blog.
The list of new features is LOOOOONG but here is a taste:
All new backend: play around with it, it is sleek faster and much more fun.
New image features: if you go into the media section you can change the default size of the image thumbnails, you also will have much more options for positioning and so on when you place images into posts
More storage: You all got your 50mb limit pumped up to 100mb, but as always if you have a special need for more space contact me I can help.
Event calendar on by default: Before you had to request the event calendar for your site, now it is on by default. Simply create a new category for your events (I suggest ‘events’) then click on the ‘plug-in’ section in the ‘posts’ menu and follow the instructions for setting up the calendar. Once you set it up you will be able to create your own event calendar much like you see on the right side over there. You can also use the event calendar widget to display the calendar on your blog (found in the ‘appearance’ menu).
More and better wigets: You can now change the look and feel of your sidebars with easy to use widgets (‘appearance’ menu click on ‘widgets’) drag and drop them into place and then click on them to customize them.
Auto-save and post revision: Mess something up? Maybe you like the last version better? The site now autosaves your posts every minute and keeps a record of all the versions, never lose a great post ever again!
Better spam protection: Yup, better and faster
The ability to add users to your blog: You can now add users to your blog (‘users’ menu click on ‘add new’). You can also control what level of control they have over the site (‘users’ menus ‘authors & users’) maybe they will only be subscribers and read your posts, or maybe they are contributors and you will moderate what they write before it goes live, or maybe they are administrators with you and can control everything. Obviously be careful who you give control over your site.
More profile features: Change the look and feel of your blogging experience (‘users’ menu click ‘my profile’), You can also change the way your gravatar is displayed (that little icon that pops up when you comment on the site (‘media’ menus click ‘gravatar’)
All this and much faster performance and greater option. Please do let me know if anything is broken, thanks again for Blogging at BostonBiker.org
