Things That Make Me Happy
Written by Boston Biker on Aug 25Every once in a while it’s a good idea to make a list of the things that have made you happy lately. This will keep you from becoming a miserable old coot…and make people like you more. So here is mine.
1. Having a new bottom bracket. My old one made my feel like I was pushing around a pepper mill, or perhaps that I was creating stone dust. My knees are absolutely loving the new none grinding way my bike gets about.
2. Learning how to install and then installing a new bottom bracket on your own. God bless the webbertubes and all of there fine knowledge. Also may the good lord baby Jesus smile down on 12 inch wrenches for having so much leverage.
3. Karma. Dear asshole who felt the need to honk like crazy at me for having the audacity to ride my bicycle in the road. Guess you didn’t see that cop, or else you wouldn’t have run that red light. Enjoy your ticket, dill weed.
4. Aluminum! To the slightly crazy guy at the bike shop that decided the whole store needed to know your hatred of aluminum chain rings, thanks. You kept me and my friend laughing for hours, now whenever I feel blue I will throw on my best Russian accent and scream “Aluminum! You make this from Aluminum!” I will then go on to proclaim “I will make this myself, from steel!…STEEL!”
5. Music. Thanks guy in front of the bike shop who was singing sorrowful Spanish ballads. I couldn’t understand a damn thing you were singing, but as you remarked between songs that “this next one is silky smooth…like my foreskin” and “I got homeland security to protect me from the huge crows, so stay back MOTHER FUCKERSS!!!!!!”, you absolutely made my day.
